The Active Chlorine test strips can be used in facilities where food preparation areas, equipment, and general disinfection are more strictly controlled. Specifically, this product was developed for use in daycare centers and senior homes, where a disinfection level slightly higher than that available using our High Level Chlorine strip is required.

The Chlorine Test Paper measures total available chlorine from 0-200ppm, and give results in just seconds. Total available chlorine is the sum of free available chlorine and the combined available chlorine. Our chlorine test paper is most often used to test the strength of solutions used to sanitize surfaces, for example, in the restaurant industry. In these types of applications, bleach is usually used to generate the available chlorine. When using bleach as a cleaner, it must be diluted before use, and it will work best in the pH range of 5-7.

The Extra High Level Chlorine test strip tests levels of free chlorine in a solution, in steps of 0-1000-2500-5000-7500-10,000ppm, giving results in just seconds. This test strip is great for environments requiring high levels of sanitation/disinfection, such as hospitals.

The Glucose test paper detects 0.1 – 2.0% glucose. Our Glucose Test Strips can also be used for similar purposes, however, they are plastic strips rather than paper and measure from 0-3000 mg/dL rather than percentages. The strip can be used to measure glucose levels in osmosis/diffusion experiments, urine analysis (educational only), and food science studies.

This test strip is used where higher levels of disinfection are required. The higher range provides a much higher degree of certainty that all organisms are either killed or rendered ineffective. We also have higher level chlorine strips available, including our Active Chlorine, which measures up to 2,000ppm and our Extra High Level Chlorine, which measures up to 10,000ppm.

The Low Level Chlorine test strip measures residual chlorine from 0-10ppm in increments of 0-0.5-1-3-5-10 in just seconds. This test strip detects residual levels of free chlorine. It is accurate within 5-10% of reading the color scale. The strip can also be used to test for chlorine in drinking water if this is a concern, however, our Residual Chlorine test strip, which measures up to 5ppm, may be a better suited option for testing residual in drinking water.

Neutral Litmus test paper tests for Neutrality of a solution, or its acidity or alkalinity. The Neutral Litmus test paper does not come with a color chart as it cannot provide you with a defined pH value. The test strip will turn red if dipped into an acidic solution (pH <7) or blue if dipped into an alkaline solution (pH >7). NOTE: The solution must be water-based.

This test strip is calibrated at 0, 100, 250, and 500ppm, and gives results in just seconds. Peracetic acid is another sanitizing agent primarily used in some segments of the food industry, such as organic produce and poultry. The recommended strength of peracetic acid is typically 150-200ppm, however, this can vary by location. Check with your local health inspector to determine what ppm level you should be reaching. NOTE: If the strips are turning yellow in color, it is possible that the concentration of Peracetic Acid is too high.

The pH 1-14 test strips (3-pad) are wide-range strips measuring in steps of 1.0 pH units, and giving results in just seconds. Use wide range pH 1-14 test strips (acid-base) when you have a diverse range of materials, and you are not sure what end of the spectrum you will land on. This strip has three pads for accuracy and can be used in many different circumstances, including education, industry, cosmetics, water testing and more. The Residual Chlorine test strip is for use in ensuring free chlorine levels in drinking water are sufficient to inactivate the bacteria and viruses that cause diarrhea disease, as well as ensuring the water is protected from re-contamination during storage. The strip can also be used to ensure systems have no residual free chlorine after chemical sanitation by testing for very low levels of free chlorine in solution from 0.0 ppm – 5.0 ppm. Salinity test strips measure the chloride ion (Cl-1) present in solution from 0-1,000 ppm Cl. This strip can be used to educate students on the difference between “fresh” and “salt” water. It can also be useful in explaining the concepts of freezing point depression and boiling point elevation. In applications where the salt content is high the sample will require dilution with deionized water before running the test. In these cases, the test result will need to be corrected by using a dilution factor to arrive at the final result.

QAC Test Paper is used to detect the strength of quaternary ammonium compounds in sanitizers. QAC Compounds exhibit microbicidal activity to most microbes at 200ppm concentration.

Recommended peroxide levels vary, therefore, the test strip can be used to test the concentrations users prefer. Instructions: 1. Remove one test strip from the vial. Do not touch the test pad with your fingers. 2. Dip the test strip into the solution being tested for 1 second. 3. Remove and shake off any excess liquid. 4. The Ammonia Leak Detection Cloth is used for the detection of leaks in sealed incubators, such as those used for infectious disease studies and in the treatment of premature birth. Industrial uses for detection of ammonia gas include sealed containers and filtration systems. The cloth is sensitive to vapors from a 1% solution of Ammonia. The Ammonia Leak Detection Cloth is reversible. As long as the cloth reverts back to the original goldenrod yellow color, it will continue to change when exposed to ammonia vapors. However, we aren’t certain of how many times it can be reused (it is somewhat dependent on the use). Eventually, it will not revert back to its original color and can no longer be reused. It works best if exposed to vapors. If the cloth gets wet, it will not be reusable.

The test strip will turn red if dipped into an acidic solution (pH <7). It will remain unchanged in an alkaline solution. Although there is no color chart, the strip will turn various shades of red, getting darker the more acidic the solution. We have tested the blue litmus with multiple pH buffers. The blue paper is blue at pH 8. At pH 7, the sample is maybe just a little red. The real change to red seems to start with pH 6.5 and lower.

The weekly monitoring of bacteria levels in cooling water has been recommended by many legislators and professional authorities as a visual performance indicator to both system and treatment regime. This allows the user to gauge how effective a chemical or biocide product is in the particular application, and a trend can be quickly established identifying changes and taking quick remedial action where required. The Nutrient TTC-Malt dipslide is a recommended product for testing in this industry. The general industry guide is, counts should not exceed 103. It should be noted that dipslides alone do not detect Legionella as a select microorganism, however, it is generally accepted that overall bacteria levels in excess of 104 are considered able to support Legionella and is a serious risk. Similarly, the Nutrient TTC-Malt dipslide is frequently used to test cutting fluids. Uncontrolled or excess bacteria growth in cutting fluids can cause health problems, such as skin contamination or inhalation into the respiratory tract. This issue arises as the fluid develops aerosols when sprayed against high speed rotating work-pieces, presenting serious infection risks to operators. Excess bacterial fouling can lead to reduced efficiency of the actual fluid, resulting in overheating of the work-piece and tool damage.
